Shock Premier League side emerge as favourites for Manchester United target
Wolves have emerged as the shock favourites to land Joao Felix if Benfica decide to cash in at the end of the season, claims The Daily Mirror.
Felix has emerged as one of the most sought after talents in Europe this season and has even been heavily linked with moves to Liverpool and Manchester United.
Liverpool reportedly had a big money bid rejected for the 19-year-old in January, while United have scouted the teenager on a number of occasions this season.
However, it has now been revealed that Wolves, through their relationship with super-agent Jorge Mendes, will land the Portuguese if he is allowed to leave Benfica this summer.
Wolves broke the Championship record to sign Ruben Neves from Porto in a £15.8m deal in the summer of 2018 but a deal for Felix would be even more of a coup.
Neves’ stock had dipped prior to his move to Wolves, whereas Felix is at the peak of his hype and will likely go for big money in the summer.
Felix has established himself as a first-team regular since the turn of the year and is now above veteran striker Jonas in the pecking order for places.
The Portugal Under-21 international played a leading role in Benfica’s 10-0 destruction of Nacional on Sunday, where he scored one and assisted another en route to a WhoScored rating of 9.11.
In fact, Felix has scored or assisted seven goals in his last six league appearances for the Portuguese giants (five goals, two assists).
