Napoli have blocked Raul Albiol from leaving the club this summer, according to the player’s agent.
Albiol, 30, has one-year remaining on his existing deal but has been linked with a return to Valencia this summer.
Napoli have instead offered the ex-Spain international a counter three-year deal but it remains to be seen whether he will accept the terms after having his heart set on a return to his former club.
The uncertain future of defensive partner Kalidou Koulibaly is likely to have played some part in Napoli’s decision to block the move, as revealed by Albiol’s agent.
“Napoli do not want to sell him, for them he is not for sale,” Manuel Garica Quilon told Tuttosport, via Sky Sports.
Since August 2013, only four players have played more accurate passes than Albiol in Serie A (5262).
