Chelsea to battle London rivals Arsenal for Feyenoord youngster
Chelsea are prepared to battle London rivals Arsenal in the quest to sign Feyenoord's teenage midfielder Orkun Kokcu, reports The Express.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed an impressive campaign for the Eredivisie outfit netting two goals and providing four assists this league season.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has been courting the Turkey U21 international for some time now and is hoping to beat Chelsea to the punch in the race to land Kokcu.
Arteta is wary of being caught short of creative midfield options next season with Dani Ceballos set to return to Real Madrid at the end of the campaign.
However, the Blues are also looking to strengthen in midfield this summer and are hopeful of securing the services of the £23m rated teenager.
The 19-year-old's current deal runs until 2023 and having recently rejected a new contract offer from Feyenoord, the Dutch side will be wary that they'll need to cash in on Kokcu rather than lose him on a free.
The Premier League duo would face rumoured competition from Spain and Italy, with Real Betis, Sevilla, Roma and Atalanta all monitoring his situation.
