Gladbach have announced they have re-signed Christoph Kramer from Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year deal keeping him at the club until 2021.
Kramer, 25, spent two years on loan with Gladbach before returning to Leverkusen last season.
However, Gladbach have returned for their former defensive midfielder following Granit Xhaka’s departure to Arsenal and have concluded a deal for the Germany international.
“We unfortunately had to allowed Christoph to return to Leverkusen a year ago and are now even more delighted that we can bring him back to Borussia,” Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl told the club’s website.
“He knows our team, he knows the club and, with his experience and personality, he will play an important role in our young team.”
Only Wendell (82) completed more tackles for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga last season than Kramer (78).
