The agent of Juventus defender Daniele Rugani has revealed Arsenal are monitoring his client.
Arsene Wenger was desperate to sign another defender in January but baulked at West Brom’s £20m valuation of former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.
The Arsenal manager is expected to strengthen his defensive options at the end of the season and could rekindle the club’s long-standing interest in Rugani.
The Italy international has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular for Juventus and his agent, Davide Torchia, has revealed Arsenal are monitoring his situation.
“Daniele’s doing well, I’m happy for him,” he told Radio Sportiva, via the London Evening Standard.
“Arsenal? They didn’t launch any assaults for him. They expressed a liking for him, but we have respect for Juventus.”
Rugani has only made 11 league appearances this season and featured in just one of their last 10 Serie A games.
Juventus actually have a far superior record in Serie A when Rugani has started (90.9% win ratio) compared to when he hasn’t featured from the start (75%).
While they are winning more, the Old Lady are also scoring significantly more goals per game (3.36) compared to when the Italian has not started (1.83).
