Newcastle confirm double swoop for Saint-Maximin and Willems

Newcastle United have confirmed two new signings as Steve Bruce looks to strengthen his squad further following the arrival of record signing Joelinton.

Dutch international full-back Jetro Willems has arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan, while the Magpies have secured the permanent signing of France U21 international Allan Saint-Maximin.

The winger has signed for a fee believed to be in the region of £16.5m from Nice and has signed a six-year deal running until 2025.

The 22-year-old can play on either wing or from the front and has taken up the number 10 shirt at St. James' Park.

The youngster scored six league goals and registered three assists last season, though it is his dribbling for which he is most renowned having completed the second most in all of Europe's top five leagues last season (143).

Head coach Bruce said: "I'm delighted to bring Allan to St. James' Park. He is a very talented young player with a big future ahead of him.

"He has all the attributes you would want in an attacking player, including lightning pace, so I'm sure he'll excite everybody. He is a great addition to Newcastle United and the Premier League."

On Willems, he added: "Jetro brings a wealth of experience into the dressing room and I'm very pleased to have brought him here.

"He has played at the highest level and is naturally left-footed so he’ll give us another strong option on that side."
