Everton identify exciting potential Silva replacement

Everton are backing Marco Silva to arrest the club’s slump but have identified Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa as his potential replacement, claims The Daily Mirror.

Silva has already received the dreaded vote of confidence as Everton manager and endured defeat on his return to former club Watford on Saturday.

The Toffees have lost nine of their last 13 matches in all competitions and there is a growing suspicion that the Portuguese will not see out the season.

While Everton are hopeful the 41-year-old will be able to change the fortunes of the club, the Merseyside outfit also have their eye on Leeds boss Bielsa.

The 63-year-old, who has a close relationship with Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino, has transformed Leeds into promotion challengers in the Championship this season.

Leeds have endured a downturn in results of late but have generally played football the Championship has rarely seen before.

Bielsa’s time at Elland Road was cast into doubt last month after admitting he has sent members of his coaching staff to spy on all of their opponents this season.

Nevertheless, the former Marseille manager has now emerged as a managerial target for Everton if they are forced into sacking Silva.

Leeds are second in the Championship and Bielsa has a win ratio of 54.5% since taking charge of the English giants last summer.
