Roma have earmarked Marseille forward Florian Thauvin as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah this summer, reports Il Messaggero, via Football Italia.
Liverpool are currently in talks with Roma about bringing Salah back to the Premier League but the two clubs are still apart in their valuation of the former Chelsea winger.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have already failed with a £28m bid for the Egypt international, while Roma are reportedly holding out for more than £35m this summer.
Nevertheless, Roma are drafting up a list of potential replacements for Salah and it has now emerged that Thauvin is one of their options.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a stunning return to form last season back at Marseille after being deemed a flop during his six months at Newcastle at the start of the 2015/16 campaign.
Thauvin scored 15 goals and registered eight assists in 38 league appearances for Marseille and has even forced his way into Didier Deschamps’ France squad off the back of some stunning displays for the Ligue 1 giants.
In fact, Thauvin was named the WhoScored Man of the Match at least two more times than any other player in Ligue 1 last season (9).
