Palace chairman knocks back Pardew exit fears

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish insists he isn’t worried about reports linking Alan Pardew to the England job.

Pardew has emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Roy Hodgson in the future having been a roaring success at Palace since returning at the start of the year.

However, Parish says the speculation only means the club are moving in the right direction.

“The England manager has not lost a game for two years so I cannot see anything dramatic on the horizon. What would you like me to do? Hope that we do not play as well so nobody wants Alan? It is a luxury problem,” Parish is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.

“If it happens and someone like England or Manchester United want the Crystal Palace manager, it would mean we are doing ever so well.

“My job is to build an infrastructure where we can take those things when they come along. You have to build a culture at a club that is bigger than any one person.”

Since taking over at Palace at the start of the year, only Arsenal (18) and Manchester City (16) have won more league games than Palace (15).
