Lyon make third bid for Manchester United outcast

Lyon are edging closer to clinching a deal for Memphis Depay after submitting their third bid worth £14.8m for the Manchester United outcast, reports L’Equipe, via Get French Football.

The Ligue 1 giants are the only side interested in signing Memphis on a permanent deal this month and have already had bids rejected worth £10.4m and £11.3m.

United have taken a stance to sell players on their terms after already recouping an initial £20m for Morgan Schneiderlin earlier this month and are now determined to get full value for Memphis.

Jose Mourinho has given United’s No.7 the greenlight to leave the club this month after failing to make any impression on the United manager but the Premier League outfit will only allow him to leave if Lyon match their valuation.

Memphis has reportedly agreed personal terms with Lyon meaning Bruno Genesio’s side only need to agree a fee with United before the transfer can go through. United are expected to reject Lyon’s latest bid but the French side are getting closer to United’s reported £17.4m valuation.

Of players to have started at least 15 games in the last two Premier League seasons no player has been dispossessed more frequently than Memphis (1 every 21 minutes).
