Tottenham cool interest in former England international

Tottenham have cooled their interest in Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha due to his potential Africa Cup of Nations commitments with the Ivory Coast, reports The Guardian.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side failed with a late summer move for Zaha at the start of the season but rekindled their interest for the tricky winger following his standout campaign for the Eagles.

However, Zaha opted to switch international allegiance from England to Ivory Coast at the end of last year before missing a month of the season representing the Elephants in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Palace, who intend to keep Zaha beyond the end of this season, had been bracing themselves for another summer bid from Tottenham but Pochettino’s side could shelve their interest due to the fact Zaha could miss spells during the season due to his AFCON commitments.

The former Manchester United winger has scored six goals and registered nine assists in his most productive top-flight campaign to date for Palace, as well as averaging the third highest WhoScored rating away from home in the Premier League (7.67).
