Serie A duo set for battle over Bayern Munich midfielder

Italian giants AC Milan and Inter are on course to lock horns for the signature of Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal next summer, reports Tuttosport, via Football Italia.

Inter were heavily linked with a move for the Chile international this summer and were reportedly willing to make him the highest paid player in the squad.

Luciano Spalletti bolstered his midfield options with the arrivals of Fiorentina duo Matias Vecino and Borja Valero and Inter were forced to pause their pursuit of Vidal after running out of money to spend.

However, Vidal will enter the final 12 months of his existing Bayern deal next summer and Inter are ready to rekindle their interest for the former Juventus midfielder at the end of the season.

They could face competition from city rivals Milan, although Vincenzo Montella’s side will only enter the race for his signature if they qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Vidal has made a breathtaking start to the season for Bayern and is currently the highest rated player in the Bundesliga (8.57). Furthermore, no player is averaging more tackles per game than Vidal (6.5) in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
