Leicester to rekindle interest in Burnley ace Tarkowski

Leicester will move for Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski at the end of the season, claims The Daily Mirror.

The Foxes have twice had bids rejected by Burnley in the past but are confident of landing the England international in the summer.

Tarkowski will only have 12 months left to run on his current Burnley deal at the end of the season and has rejected a new deal.

Leicester had a bid worth in the region of £30m rejected by Burnley last summer, while West Ham were also unsuccessful in their attempts to land the 28-year-old.

Burnley will reluctantly have to cash in on Tarkowski at the end of the current campaign if he refuses to extend his stay at the club.

Refusal to offload Tarkowski in the next transfer window would leave them vulnerable to losing him for nothing in the summer of 2022.

Tarkowski has been a consistent performer for Burnley for a number of years now and is regarded as one of the best defenders outside the elite clubs.

Since the start of last season, Tarkowski has made more clearances than any other player in the Premier League (280).
