Roma have announced the arrival of PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Moreno on a four-year deal until 2021.
Moreno has spent the last two years with PSV after returning to Holland following a four-year stint with Espanyol.
The 29-year-old centre-back is the first arrival under the regime of Monchi and the new Roma sporting director has revealed he has been tracking the Mexico international for a long time.
“Moreno has been a target of mine for a long time, and fortunately now the circumstances are right for him to join us at Roma,” Monchi told the club’s official website. “This is a central defender with a lot of international experience, and he perfectly fit the profile we were looking for.”
As for Moreno, he has finally secured a move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe. The experienced centre-back is currently preparing for the Confederations Cup with Mexico and is delighted to have completed a transfer to Roma.
“I am very happy to sign for Roma,” Moreno added. “This represents an important step up in my career.
“I hope I can show my individual qualities and contribute to the overall success of the team.”
No defender scored more goals in Eredivisie in the 2016/17 campaign than Moreno (7).
