Luke Shaw set for win Manchester United deal

Luke Shaw is on course to complete a remarkable u-turn in his Manchester United career by winning a new long-term deal, claims The Daily Mirror.

The 22-year-old’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season but United triggered a clause to extend his stay by a further 12 months earlier this year.

Shaw’s time at United has been nothing short of a disaster since making a £27m move from Southampton in 2014 and the left-back has found it particularly tough going under Jose Mourinho.

The United manager has been very critical of the defender in the past and it did look likely that he would be moved on at the end of the season after running out of chances to prove himself to Mourinho.

However, the 55-year-old hailed Shaw as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League at the end of last month and is now ready to sanction a long-term deal for the defender.

Shaw has started seven of United’s last nine matches in all competitions and the Red Devils haven’t conceded a goal in their last 593 minutes of action (9 hours and 48 minutes) when Shaw has featured.
