Hazard wants Chelsea stay, says Hiddink

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink insists Eden Hazard wants to stay at the club.

The 25-year-old cast doubts over his Chelsea future when he revealed it would be hard to turn down Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week.

Hazard, who was voted the PFA Player of the Year last season, has struggled to live up to the billing this time around and has been linked with a move away as a result despite only signing a new long-term contract 12 months ago.

“Before we played PSG I had a very short conversation with him and I asked him about the situation,” Hiddink is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.

“He is very keen to be here, he extended his contract. He is happy here. His family are happy here. There is no sign from his side that he is eager to go. Of course we don’t want to bring much attention to this, but he wants to step up as well.”

Hazard is still awaiting his first league goal of the season and has only registered one assist. In fact, the Belgian’s goalless run extends into the backend of last season and spans nearly 32 hours of action (1,902 minutes).
