Borussia Dortmund set to agree deal with Barcelona ace
Borussia Dortmund have moved closer to securing a new striker for their Bundesliga campaign, which kicks off today, with the news that Paco Alcacer is set to arrive from Barcelona, according to Bild.
The Spaniard will sign on an initial season-long loan deal with a deal in place to buy the forward for a fee between €20-25m come the end of the campaign.
Dortmund have been without a permanent focal point to their attack following the January sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with Michy Batshuayi returning to Chelsea after a loan deal and since heading to La Liga with Valencia.
Alcacer, a former Valencia striker himself, is heading in the opposite direction to Germany in the hope of reviving a career that has stagnated due to a lack of first team opportunities at Camp Nou.
The 24-year-old has not been involved in Barcelona’s opening two matches of the season and has started just 14 league matches since signing for the blaugrana in 2016, scoring ten goals and registering six assists in that time.
With a direct hand in a goal every 96.5 minutes in that time, he’ll be desperate to prove that he can maintain an impressive strike rate given more playing time in order to force his way back into the Spain set up having missed out on a place at the World Cup.
