Raheem Sterling and Jurgen Klopp would have been the ideal fit at Liverpool, according to the player’s agent, Aidy Ward.
Sterling, 20, left Liverpool to join Manchester City for £44m over the summer in a transfer saga that dragged on for months.
There has been huge change at Liverpool since Sterling’s departure; with former Borussia Dortmund head coach Klopp replacing Brendan Rodgers as manager the most notable, and Ward believes Klopp would have been a ‘great fit’ for his client.
“The new Liverpool manager probably would have been a great fit for Raheem – passionate, disciplined in the right way, new ideas, not afraid of trying new things. He’ll do great at Liverpool,” Ward told the Daily Mail.
“Would Raheem under Klopp have been a good scenario? Yes, 100%, definitely, mainly because of the person Klopp is – the passion, the drive, the emotion, wanting to achieve. He’s going to get the best out of those players. It could have been a dream come true.”
However, Sterling is now enjoying life with current league leaders City. The England starlet scored his first senior hat-trick at the weekend in a thumping 5-2 win over Bournemouth.
