Villa set for Ligue 1 raid

Aston Villa have pin pointed Bordeaux creator Wahbi Khazri and Monaco midfielder Jeremy Toulalan as their top January targets, according reports in France.

Remi Garde’s men are bottom of the Premier League and without a win since the opening day of the season, but funds have been made available for January as they look to pull off an unlikely escape in the second half of the campaign.

The Villains have reportedly already lodged a £3m for Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda and will follow that interest up with moves for Khazri (via RMC) and Toulalan (via Foot Mercato).

Khazri, 24, has courted interest from a number of Premier League clubs since his campaign start to the season. In fact, only Angel di Maria (50) and Ryad Boudebouz (63) have created more chances in Ligue 1 than Khazri this season (47).
