Real Madrid finally agree a deal with Chelsea for Eden Hazard
Real Madrid have agreed an initial €100m (£88.5m) fee with Chelsea for Eden Hazard, reports The Guardian.
Hazard confirmed his intentions to leave Chelsea after last week’s Europa League final after being heavily linked with a move to Madrid all season.
The Belgium international has been a long-term target for Madrid and the Spanish giants are finally on the verge of landing the 28-year-old.
Madrid had struggled to agree a fee with Chelsea, who were holding out for well in excess of £100m for Hazard.
Zinedine Zidane’s side refused to pay so much money for a player that has entered the final 12 months of his current deal.
Hazard has already agreed personal terms on a lucrative long-term deal with Madrid and agreeing a fee was the only obstacle left in the way.
Madrid have now reportedly agreed to make Hazard one of the most expensive players in the club’s history after making a breakthrough in discussions.
Hazard finished the 2018/19 Premier League campaign as the highest WhoScored rated player (7.81) after playing a direct hand in the most goals (31).
