Manchester United outcast comes out fighting for long-term future

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has come out fighting following Jose Mourinho’s latest outburst and is determined to win over his manager and prove a success at Old Trafford.

Shaw, 21, has endured a turbulent time at United since making the £27m switch from Southampton in 2014 and is currently fighting for his long-term future at the club after plummeting down the pecking order under Mourinho this season.

Mourinho has repeatedly criticised the England international and even aimed another barb towards the youngster despite the fact he won a late penalty for United in their 1-1 draw against Everton on Tuesday night.

However, Shaw insists he is absolutely determined to make it at United and has hailed the support from the fans following what has been a hugely testing season for him.

“I am loving it here at United, the fans are incredible and have been incredible the last couple of days for obviously what has been going on,” Sky Sports quote Shaw as saying after their latest draw in midweek.

“But I am keeping my head up and I am going to fight to the last. I am not going to give up. I love this club and I will give everything to be here.

“Obviously with the stuff that has been going on it is hard for me to take because deep down that is not me as a person. Like Jose said, he wants to see me fighting – and I will fight to the last second because I want to be here for the club.

“I want to play for the manager and I want to help this team get back to the top.”

Shaw, who suffered a horror double leg break at the start of last season, has only started seven Premier League games this season and has even dropped below Ashley Young in the pecking order at left-back.
