West Ham weigh up second bid for Bournemouth star

West Ham United are pondering a second bid of £8m for Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The Hammers failed with a joint £25m bid for Ritchie and Callum Wilson before the end of last season and Slaven Bilic is ready to turn his attentions on the services of the former.

Ritchie, 26, impressed in Bournemouth’s first campaign in England’s top-flight last season and West Ham are ready to make their move in an attempt to bolster their squad for Europa League football next season.

Bournemouth have no interest in selling one of their star players but West Ham are preparing an offer that could potentially rise to £10m.

The Scotland international was one of Eddie Howe’s most creative players last season after registering more assists than any other teammate (6) and laying on the most accurate crosses (45). Furthermore, only Andrew Surman (43) created more chances than Ritchie (41) last term.
