Manchester United announce fee agreed for Lukaku

Manchester United have announced they have reached an agreement with Everton for the transfer of star striker Romelu Lukaku.

Jose Mourinho’s side have successfully beaten rivals Chelsea to the Belgium international and Lukaku is now free to discuss personal terms and undergo his medical ahead of their pre-season tour of America.

Lukaku, 24, was widely expected to return to Chelsea this summer but the Blues dithered and allowed Mourinho’s side to steal a march in the race to land the Everton No.10.

Antonio Conte had earmarked Lukaku as his top transfer target this summer and will be fuming at the fact Chelsea have managed to mess this deal up despite matching United’s bid on Friday.

Chelsea reportedly even offered more than United’s down payment of £75m, but the fact Mino Raiola represents Lukaku, who Mourinho’s side have done plenty of business with in the last 12 months, and the fact United are sending Wayne Rooney the offer way, has trumped Chelsea’s attempts.

Lukaku finished last season with 25 goals to his name in the Premier League, while no player found the back of the net more times from open play than the Belgian (21).
