Barcelona have announced Sergio Busquets has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal keeping him at the Camp Nou until 2021.
Busquets, 27, is the unheralded star of the Barcelona show and has just finished his eighth campaign at the club.
The Spain international still had three years remaining on the four-year deal he signed in 2015 but there had been rumours of an exit this summer.
Incoming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was reportedly keen to reunite with Busquets in England but Barcelona have moved to secure his long-term services with an improved contract that includes a €200m (£152.5m).
Only Robert Trashorras (7,101) has completed more passes in the last three La Liga seasons than Busquets (6,483).
