Arsenal reveals interest in Monaco starlet

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed he is following Kylian Mbappe’s progress at Monaco and has confirmed the rising France star to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Mbappe, 18, has become a regular fixture for Monaco this season after becoming the youngest player and scorer for the club last season, breaking both records that were held by Henry.

Henry went on to become one of the best players of all-time in the Premier League with Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger says he sees similar qualities in Mbappe and admits he is a player Arsenal are following.

“Mbappe is like Henry, maybe not exactly, but it is true that he has similar qualities,” Wenger told beIN Sports, via The Daily Mail. “The talent and potential is similar.

“It now depends on whether he has the same desire, intelligence and motivation that Thierry had. The next two or three years will tell us that. But the first signs are very promising.

“Yes, of course we are following him. We know him very well. He is a guy who is electric, like Thierry was. He can dribble and go past people and is efficient. He could be another Henry.

“He is developing well. I think he extended his contract with Monaco last season, so Monaco will decide his future.”

The France U-19 international has played a direct hand in eight goals in 14 league appearances this season.  In fact, of players aged 21 and under only Monaco teammate Thomas Lemar has scored or assisted more (11).
