Manchester City are poised to beat rivals Chelsea to the signing of Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci in a deal worth £50m, reports The Daily Mirror.
Bonucci, 28, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League since his outstanding displays at Euro 2016 for Italy.
Chelsea had been leading the chase for the central defender after Antonio Conte became their manager, although it never appeared likely they would actually be able to prize him away from Juventus.
However, City have stepped up their efforts in the last 24 hours to land the defender that Pep Guardiola holds with such high regard and are offering Bonucci a contract worth £140,000-a-week.
Only two outfielders have completed more accurate long balls than Bonucci in the last four Serie A seasons (852).
