Liverpool want to hand Joe Gomez improved terms as a reward for his fine form this season, claims The Daily Mirror.
Gomez still has four years left to run on his existing deal but the 21-year-old has established himself as a first-team regular this season.
As a result of moving above Dejan Lovren in the pecking order, the terms in his existing terms no longer reflect his status at the club.
Liverpool are keen to hand Gomez a deal to reflect his growing importance and expect to wrap talks up before the end of the year.
Klopp’s side have been a strong start to the season and are only below Manchester City in the table on goal difference.
Liverpool have noticeably improved their defensive record this season, which has in part been down to Gomez’s emergence alongside Virgil van Dijk.
In fact, only City (3) have conceded fewer Premier League goals than Liverpool (4) this season. Liverpool let in 16 goals at the same stage of last season.
