Barcelona have activated their €9m (£8.2m) option to sign Palmeiras defender Yerry Mina, reports Spanish outlet Sport.
Mina will stay at Palmeiras until January at the very earliest and his arrival at Barcelona may even be delayed until the end of the season.
Ernesto Valverde’s side have been heavily linked with a move for the Colombia international in the last 12 months and reached an agreement in principle with the Brazilian champions to have the first right of refusal on his services.
Barcelona have opted to trigger their clause but supporters may have to wait until next season to see the 21-year-old in action.
Mina is currently sidelined until September with a foot injury but is highly rated after playing an important part in Palmeiras’ title-winning campaign last season.
