Fulham have announced star midfielder Tom Cairney has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal with an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.
Cairney’s previous deal was due to expire in 2019 but the Cottagers have moved to secure his long-term future at the club amid interest from Premier League sides.
The 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Championship since joining Fulham from Blackburn in July 2015 and Fulham have succeeded in keeping the Scotland international at the club this summer.
It marks a good seven days for Fulham after they announced Ryan Sessegnon had turned down offers from Liverpool and Tottenham to sign his first professional contract with the club.
Cairney was the only player in the Championship last season that finished the campaign with double figures for goals (13) and assists (10). Not only that, but he also made the most key passes (122).
