Chelsea summer signing breaks down with training ground injury
Chelsea are sweating on injury news after Tiemoue Bakayoko broke down with injury in training on Friday, reports The Sun.
Bakayoko, who was left out of the France squad for the current international period to work on his fitness, was training at Cobham with the rest of the players left behind over the break.
However, the 23-year-old limped out of training and was reportedly in a lot of pain after going through his own individual fitness regime.
The £40m summer signing from Monaco arrived off the back of knee surgery and has reportedly been playing through the pain for most of the campaign.
A groin injury threatened his involvement during Chelsea’s 3-3 draw with Roma last month and this fresh scare will only add to Antonio Conte’s worries after Michy Batshuayi returned to the club from international duty with Belgium with a foot injury.
Only two Chelsea players have garnered a higher WhoScored rating in the Premier League this season than Bakayoko (7.33), while only N’Golo Kante (3.5) averages more tackles per game (Bakayoko - 3).
