Chelsea team news: Luiz misses out on squad to face Newcastle
Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has left David Luiz out of his squad for today’s FA Cup meeting with Newcastle.
The Blues are looking to quickly overcome their Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Arsenal on Wednesday night, with Conte naming a strong squad as a result.
With Thibaut Courtois and Alvaro Morata both sidelined, Willy Caballero features between the sticks, while Michy Batshuayi again leads the attack.
January arrival Ross Barkley has to settle for a spot on the bench after making his Chelsea debut at Arsenal, however, there is no place in the 18-man match day squad for Luiz.
The Brazilian has fallen out of favour with Conte in recent weeks, though the defender hasn’t been helped by a knee injury.
The 30-year-old hasn’t started a Premier League match since the 1-0 win over Bournemouth back in October, though did start both FA Cup matches against Norwich earlier this month.
Our team today: Caballero; Rudiger, Christensen, Cahill (c); Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Kante, Alonso; Pedro, Batshuayi, Hazard.

Luiz has been linked with a move away from Chelsea this month as speculation of a January exit continue to circulate.
