Madrid star refuses to rule out Barcelona switch

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has sensationally conceded that a shock move to Barcelona is not out of the question.

Ronaldo’s future has been well-documented since the start of the season with the Portugal international widely expected to leave Madrid next summer.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move back to Manchester United and long-term admirers Paris Saint-Germain, but the three-time World Player of the Year admits football means he could even one day play for Barcelona or a direct rival of United.

“It’s a little more difficult” Ronaldo told the Associated Press when asked whether he would ever join Barcelona or one of United’s rivals.

“There are things that you kind of already have an idea, that to play one day for Barcelona would be almost impossible, or to play for another English club other than Manchester – it’s very complicated.

“But that’s not 100 per cent guaranteed. As I said before, there are no certainties in football.”

Ronaldo broke the record for goals scored in the group stage of the Champions League in midweek (11) with his four-goal haul against Malmo. In fact, the Madrid No.7 has scored more goals than 21 of the 32 teams that were in the group stages this season.
