Sam Allardyce confirms he will continue as Everton manager
Sam Allardyce has revealed he will continue as Everton manager next season after showdown talks with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
Everton appointed Allardyce as Ronald Koeman’s successor back in November on a deal until the end of next season.
The former England manager has successfully steered Everton away from the bottom three but his long-term future has been called into question.
Everton bizarrely sent out a questionnaire to supporters asking to rate Allardyce’s performance as manager before apologising to the 63-year-old.
The Toffees have been heavily linked with a summer move for Shakhtar Donetsk Paulo Fonseca but Allardyce says he will continue at the club.
“We discussed plans for next season yesterday with Farhad (Moshiri). We have some clarity moving forward now,” The Daily Telegraph quote Allardyce as saying on Friday.
“Didn’t I just say that? For clarification, yes,” Allardyce responded when asked whether he would be staying at the club.
Everton fans have failed to warm to Allardyce since his arrival, mainly due to the style of football he has implemented at the club.
Interestingly, Everton would be sixth in the Premier League and above Arsenal had the league started when Allardyce was appointed.
