Belgian refuses to commit future to Chelsea beyond summer

Thibaut Courtois has refused to rule out the possibility of leaving Chelsea in the summer amid interest from Real Madrid.

Chelsea currently languish nine points off the top five and are not expected to be able to offer European football next season.

Courtois, 23, has recently emerged as a possible target for Madrid and the Belgium international says he doesn’t know if he will remain at Stamford Bridge over the summer.

“I don’t know [if I will stay],” Courtois told Belgium broadcaster RTBF, via ESPN. “Until now I’d won a trophy every season. I tried to come back as strongly as possible [from injury].

“It’s a pity that we’re out of the FA Cup and the Champions League but I’m going to try to finish the season well and have a good European Championship with Belgium.

“Then we’ll start a new season with a new manager [at Chelsea] with the hope of doing a lot better than this year.”
