Goalkeeper: Michael Rensing (Fortuna Duesseldorf) - 9.18 rating 

 

Fortuna Duesseldorf did their bid to consolidate a top half finish with a 4-1 win over Werder Bremen the world of good, a game in which Michael Rensing impressed in. The goalkeeper is one of two Fortuna Duesseldorf players to make the cut, with Rensing a solid performer in the victory as he made eight saves and two successful cross claims to return a WhoScored rating of 9.18.

It’s an all-Serie A centre-back partnership in the European team of the week as Nicolas NKoulou, like Fazio, won the WhoScored man of the match award last weekend. Torino gave their top four hopes a shot in the arm as they beat AC Milan 2-0 in Sunday’s clash, with Nkoulou dominant in the air as he won eight aerial duels. 14 clearances and six interceptions saw the Cameroonian return a WhoScored rating of 8.62. 

 

Left-back: William (Wolfsburg) - 9.12 rating 

 

Wolfsburg put the brakes on Hoffenheim’s winning run in style over the weekend as they secured a 4-1 win away from home. Brazilian left-back William notched both his second goal and first assist of the season in the encounter, those coming from one shot and two key passes, respectively, while five tackles and four interceptions saw the defender gain a WhoScored rating of 9.12. 

 

Right midfield: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 10.0 rating 

 

Our player of the week in Europe, Liverpool set out an early marker for their 5-0 win over Huddersfield as they raced into the lead at Anfield on Friday night, netting after just 15 seconds. It was a routine victory that saw Mohamed Salah scored his 20th and 21st league goals of the season, those coming from eight shots against the Terriers, and notch an assist from four key passes. Central midfield: Maximilian Arnold (Wolfsburg) - 9.52 rating 

 

The second Wolfsburg player to make the cut in this XI, Maximilian Arnold put in a man of the match performance against Hoffenheim to return a WhoScored rating of 9.52. The 24-year-old had a direct hand in two of the four goals scored, netting one from six shots and assisting one from four key passes. Three successful dribbles, one tackle and one interception meant Arnold more than deserved his award.

Scorer of the aforementioned Liverpool goal after 15 seconds in Friday’s 5-0 win over Huddersfield, Naby Keita has begun to live up to the monster price tag the Reds paid to secure his services from RB Leipzig last summer. Keita scored with one of two shots against the Terriers and found a teammate with 92.1% of his 63 passes at Anfield. Four tackles and three interceptions saw him land a WhoScored rating of 8.76 in the comprehensive victory. 

 

Left midfield: Youcef Atal (Nice) - 9.92 rating 

 

Youcef Atal doubled his goal tally with a fine hat-trick in Nice’s 3-0 win over Guingamp at the weekend. The Algerian has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea and he proved his quality in a more advanced role against the Ligue 1 footers as he hit the back of the net with three of five shots. Two successful dribbles and one key pass saw Atal land the WhoScored man of the match award with a 9.92 rating. 

 

Striker: Nabil Fekir (Lyon) - 9.31 rating 

 

Lyon improved their dire away record with a 3-2 win at Bordeaux on Friday night as Nabil Fekir, another linked with a move to Chelsea in the past, put in a man of the match display to land a WhoScored rating of 9.31. The France international registered two assists on the night, those coming from four key passes, and completed an impressive 10 dribbles in a fine outing in Bordeaux. 

 

Striker: Kenan Karaman (Fortuna Duesseldorf) - 9.77 rating 

 

Rounding off the XI is the second Fortuna Duesseldorf representative in Kenan Karaman. The Turkish forward has only had a direct hand in three goals this season, but two of those came in the 4-1 win over Werder Bremen. The 25-year-old hit the back of the net with one of his three shots in the victory and provided one assist from one key pass. Seven successful dribbles saw Karaman land the WhoScored man of the match award with a rating of 9.77.
