Youth Watch: Terrific Tel shines again despite Bayern's struggles

 

On Youth Watch, two Ajax stars make the cut following their 2-0 win over FC Utrecht, there is space for Monaco and Toulouse teens, while Bayern forward Mathys Tel excelled on his first league start of the season. 

 

However, it's a Braga winger who claims top spot as Europe's top rated teenager this week. 

 

10. Vivaldo Semedo (FC Volendam) - 7.16 vs NEC Nijmegen 

 

Vivaldo Semedo marked his first league start with FC Volendam with a goal, albeit in a 5-2 defeat to NEC Nijmegen. Nevertheless, the 19-year-old struck with one of two shots to help return a WhoScored rating of 7.16.

 

9. Kassoum Ouattara (Monaco) - 7.31 vs PSG 

 

On just his fourth Ligue 1 start of his career, Kassoum Ouattara held firm to deny PSG at the Stade Louis II as he made four tackles, four clearances and two interceptions in Friday's 0-0 draw.  

 

8. Guillaume Restes (Toulouse) - 7.40 vs Nice 

 

Remaining in Ligue 1, Guillaume Restes held firm as Toulouse beat Nice 2-1 over the weekend. Indeed, the teenage shotstopper made five saves as the French side extended their winning run to three matches. 

 

7. Jorrel Hato (Ajax) - 7.49 vs FC Utrecht 

 

Over to the Eredivisie now, and Jorrel Hato put in a performance that returned a WhoScored rating of 7.49 in Ajax's 2-0 win over FC Utrecht. The 17-year-old found a teammate with 91.9% of his 99 attempted passes, and made two key passes in the solid victory.

6. Tristan Gooijer (Ajax) - 7.54 vs FC Utrecht 

 

Remaining with Ajax, Tristan Gooijer put in a solid shift in the win over FC Utrecht, as evidenced by a WhoScored rating of 7.54. The teenager got forward well from right-back as he completed two dribbles and made one key pass. 

 

5. Yankuba Minteh (Feyenoord) - 7.59 vs PSV 

 

On-loan winger Yankuba Minteh netted his sixth league goal of the season as defending Eredivisie champions Feyenoord held runaway league leaders PSV to a 2-2 draw. Minteh struck with one of two shots and worked hard off the ball as he made four tackles in the stalemate. 

 

4. Yvandro Borges Sanches (NEC Nijmegen) - 7.64 vs FC Volendam 

 

Yvandro Borges Sanches was a nightmare for the FC Volendam backline over the weekend and while he was unable to contribute towards a NEC Nijmegen goal, the Luxembourg international did enough to warrant a WhoScored rating of 7.64. A total of six successful dribbles was a solid return for the teenage winger. 

 

3. Mathys Tel (Bayern Munich) - 7.80 vs Freiburg 

 

While mostly used from the bench this season, Mathys Tel marked his first Bundesliga start of the season with a goal in Bayern's eventual 2-2 draw with Freiburg. The Frenchman struck with one of two shots, and made two key passes and two successful dribbles in another standout showing. 

 

2. Desire Doue (Rennes) - 8.08 vs Lorient 

 

Desire Doue did all he could to help Rennes to all the spoils in their eventual 2-1 home loss to Lorient. The 18-year-old mustered six successful dribbles, four shots and two key passes. An additional four tackles saw Doue land a WhoScored rating of 8.08. 

 

1. Roger Fernandes (Braga) - 8.45 vs Estrela da Amadora 

 

With a WhoScored rating of 8.45, Braga's Roger Fernandes is the best rated teenager this week. Fernandes netted his first league goal of the season in Braga's 3-0 win over Estrela da Amadora, netting with one of five shots, while four tackles and two key passes capped a fine showing from the Portuguese youngster.
