Manchester City trio star in European team of the week

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris (Tottenham) - 9.08 rating

Hugo Lloris’ penalty stop to deny Jamie Vardy was a key moment in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Leicester. At 1-0 up, the Frenchman’s save, one of nine in the victory, gave Spurs the shot in the arm required to go on to secure all three points. He won the man of the match award with a 9.08 rating and takes his place between the sticks in the European team of the week.

Right-back: Theodor Gebre Selassie (Werder Bremen) - 7.87 rating

Werder Bremen secured a 4-0 win over Augsburg at the weekend with the experienced Theodor Gebre Selassie solid at the back. The Czech full-back won eight aerial duels in the comfortable victory and returned a WhoScored rating of 7.87 with his six clearances crucial in the home triumph.

Alaves ended a four-match winless run with a comfortable 2-0 win over Levante on Monday night to consolidate sixth in La Liga. Victor Laguardia netted a first half goal, his first of the season, while a whopping 16 clearances helped the centre-back land a WhoScored rating of 8.60.

Centre-back: Marco Capuano (Frosinone) - 8.49 rating

Frosinone secured a second win in three in a hard-fought 1-0 win at Sampdoria at the weekend. After netting a hat-trick against Arsenal in City’s 3-1 win a week ago, Sergio Aguero followed that up with another trio of goals in Sunday’s 6-0 win over Chelsea. The Argentine could have had a fourth, too, had he scored with the goal gaping in the first half, but it was a performance that warranted a perfect WhoScored 10 rating.
