Mainz pulled off their staggering victory despite managing just 30% possession, scoring with all five of their shots on target. Freiburg, on the other hand, had eight more shots in total and also hit the target with five of those. Mainz goalkeeper Florian Muller saved all of them and also made a last man tackle to ensure an unlikely clean sheet for his side.
