Ronaldo partners Serbia goal machine in UEFA Nations Legaue A Team of the Round

 

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of three Portugal players to make the UEFA Nations League A Team of the Round. Serbia, Netherlands, Spain and Croatia are also represented in the XI.  

 

Predrag Rajkovic (Serbia) – 8.20 

 

Predrag Rajkovic is the first of three Serbia players to make the UEFA Nations League Team of the Round having returned a WhoScored rating of 8.20. Rajkovic made four saves in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Switzerland, including a second half penalty stop to deny Breel Embolo, in a solid showing. 

 

 

Denzel Dumfries (Netherlands) – 8.21 

 

Hungary held the Netherlands to a 1-1 draw in Budapest on Friday night, with right-back Denzel Dumfries the star performer. Dumfries struck a late equaliser for the Oranje, hitting the back of the net with his only effort, and he impressed off the ball, winning seven aerial duels and making three tackles. 

 

Strahinja Erakovic (Serbia) – 7.62 

 

Strahinja Erakovic was imperious at the back in Serbia’s 2-0 win over Switzerland as he made seven clearances, two tackles and two interceptions in a clean sheet-attaining display that saw the Zenit centre-back return a WhoScored rating of 7.62. 

 

Aymeric Laporte (Spain) – 7.56 

 

The first of two Spain players in the side partners Erakovic at the back. Aymeric Laporte contained the Denmark attack with ease having made four clearances, two tackles and one interception. An additional three aerial duels won saw Laporte land a WhoScored rating of 7.56. 

 

Alex Grimaldo (Spain) – 7.70 

 

Rounding off the backline is the second Spain representative. Alex Grimaldo was unfortunate not to register an assist in La Roja’s 1-0 win over Denmark having made four key passes in the narrow victory. Two tackles and two clearances saw Grimaldo land a WhoScored rating of 7.70.

Pedro Neto (Portugal) – 7.64 

 

Pedro Neto was a menace for the Poland backline in Portugal’s 3-1 win on Saturday night. Neto completed four dribbles and made three tackles prior to his 82nd minute withdrawal as the Chelsea man earned a WhoScored rating of 7.64. 

 

Luka Modric (Croatia) – 8.39 

 

Luka Modric rolled back to the years to dominate in Croatia’s 2-1 win over Scotland on Saturday evening. The Real Madrid sensation shone on the ball, completing four dribbles and making three key passes, while six interceptions and three tackles contributed to Modric’s WhoScored rating of 8.39. 

 

Bruno Fernandes (Portugal) – 8.12 

 

Linking up with Modric in the middle of the park is the second Portugal player in the XI. Bruno Fernandes registered his second UEFA Nations League assist of the year in Portugal’s win in Poland, providing for Bernardo Silva midway through the first half with one of four key passes on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.12. 

 

Cody Gakpo (Netherlands) – 8.18 

 

The second Dutch player to make the XI, Cody Gakpo provided the assist for Denzel Dumfries’ in the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Hungary. That assist came from one of five key passes, while two dribbles saw the 25-year-old return a WhoScored rating of 8.18.

With a WhoScored rating of 8.44, Aleksandar Mitrovic is the UEFA Nations League A Player of the Round. Mitrovic scored his nation’s second goal in the 2-0 win over Switzerland, netting with his only effort on the hour mark on Saturday night. The 30-year-old also won five aerial duels in a fine showing. 

 

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) – 7.99

 

Joining Mitrovic on the frontline is the third Portugal representative. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his third UEFA Nations League goal this year in the 3-1 win over Poland, getting the better of Lukasz Skorupski with one of three shots. One key pass, one successful dribble and one aerial duel won helped Ronaldo to a WhoScored rating of 7.99.
