Havertz shines in Arsenal heavy Premier League Team of the Week

 

 

After another weekend of entertaining Premier League action, we take a look at gameweek 27’s standout performers. Arsenal are the dominant side after the 6-0 thrashing of Sheffield United, while there are also inclusions for West Ham, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa players.

 

Alphonse Areola (West Ham) - 9.62 

 

West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is our Premier League Player of the Week after a formidable display at Goodison Park on Saturday, in which he made a total of nine saves, including a crucial first-half penalty stop, to help the Hammers ultimately seal a 3-1 victory. The Frenchman’s remarkable efforts saw him earn a WhoScored rating of 9.62, the highest by a goalkeeper in a Premier League match this season. 

 

Ben White (Arsenal) - 8.13 

 

Arsenal right-back Ben White crowned a productive performance with his second goal of the season at Bramall Lane on Monday evening. The 26-year-old also made one interception, two ball recoveries and created one big chance, to take home a WhoScored rating of 8.13. 

 

Cristian Romero (Tottenham) - 7.74 

 

Tottenham defender Cristian Romero headed home his fourth league goal of the season as Ange Postecoglou’s side came from behind to claim victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Argentina international also won six aerial duels and made one interception, contributing to a WhoScored rating of 7.74. 

 

Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool) - 7.67 

 

League leaders Liverpool continued their quest for the Premier League title in Jurgen Klopp’s final season when they sealed all three points at Nottingham Forest on Saturday. French defender Ibrahima Konate was crucial in helping his side to a clean sheet, as he made four tackles, two interceptions, two clearances and two aerial wins, while maintaining a pass success rate of 91.8%, to help himself to a WhoScored rating of 7.67. 

 

Jakub Kiwior (Arsenal) - 7.95 

 

Arsenal left-back Jakub Kiwior was directly involved in a Premier League goal for the third successive game when he provided the assist for Gabriel Martinelli’s 15th-minute strike against Sheffield United. The Poland international also made two tackles, four ball recoveries and won five duels - more than any other player on the pitch - to land a WhoScored rating of 7.95. 

 

 

Phil Foden (Manchester City) - 9.23 

 

Manchester City star Phil Foden continued his rampant form with a brace in Sunday’s Manchester derby, to help complete a second-half turnaround and victory for Pep Guardiola’s men. The England international found the net with two of his nine attempts on the United goal, while he also made two key passes and drew four fouls, to return a WhoScored rating of 9.23.

West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez bagged his first Premier League goal in dramatic fashion at Goodison Park on Saturday, finding the net in the 94th minute to help seal victory for the Hammers. The Mexican star also made a total of five tackles, five interceptions, three clearances, three blocks and four successful dribbles, to earn a WhoScored rating of 9.31. 

 

Declan Rice (Arsenal) - 8.79 

 

England international Declan Rice brought his tally of goal involvements in the Premier League this season to 10 when he netted his fifth goal of the campaign against Sheffield United on Monday. The former West Ham man added the Gunners’ fifth goal of the evening after just 39 minutes, while he also made two key passes, two tackles and won three ground duels, for a WhoScored rating of 8.79. 

 

Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) - 8.81 

 

Joining Rice on 10 goal involvements for the season is Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli, who both scored and assisted in the rampant victory at Bramall Lane. Martinelli found the net for the visitors’ third goal of the night after 15 minutes, before turning provider for Kai Havertz just 10 minutes later.

Kai Havertz (Arsenal) - 9.18 

 

Against Sheffield United, Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz scored and assisted for the second successive league match, having done so against Newcastle last week. The former Chelsea man put the Gunners 4-0 up in a ruthless first half, before providing the assist for Ben White to add the visitors’ sixth goal of the evening with 58 minutes on the clock. The 24-year-old also made four key passes, one successful dribble and six ball recoveries, to register a WhoScored rating of 9.18.
