Hotshot Manchester United striker secures PFA award

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has been rewarded for a fine December with the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans' Premier League player of the month award. No player scored more goals than Rashford (5) in the Premier League in December as the England international helped fire United to wins over Tottenham, Manchester City, Newcastle and Burnley.

Rashford was named the WhoScored man of the match in the wins over Spurs and Burnley and was one of 10 players to win more than one award in the Premier League in December.

Rashford edged out compatriot Trent Alexander-Arnold to top spot as he secured 37% of the vote, with the latter forced to settle for second spot with 23% of the vote. Sadio Mane, Adama Traore (both 15%), Ben Foster (5%) and Kevin De Bruyne (4%) make up the additional four players to round off the six-player shortlist.

As official rating partners for the PFA, the 22-year-old was the only Manchester United representative to make WhoScored.com's 18-man longlist, with the striker a stand out performer for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side as United lost only one of seven league matches. Rashford's good form in front of goal was enough to return a WhoScored rating of 7.52 as the frontman enjoyed one of his most prolific months in a United shirt.

Rashford is the fifth winner of the individual accolade, following in the footsteps of Norwich hitman Teemu Pukki, Liverpool defender Joel Matip, Leicester striker Jamie Vardy and Wolves hotstot Raul Jimenez, with the United and England star the fourth striker to take home the award.
