Match preview: Tottenham vs Liverpool team news confirmed

Tottenham will be without first choice central midfield pairing Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele for the visit of Liverpool.

Spurs confirmed in the week that Dembele sustained a hip problem during the draw with Real Madrid, while Wanyama continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury.

There was positive news, however, with Erik Lamela returning to full training recently and in line to make his comeback in the coming weeks after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

There’s also competition for places at left-back, with Danny Rose making his return from the bench in Madrid and Ben Davies, along with Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, back in training.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are still without star man Sadio Mane, with Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana also long term absentees.

For the hosts Harry Winks should keep his place in midfield after a confident performance at the Bernabeu, partnering Eric Dier, while the visiting front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho were all on the scoresheet in midweek and will keep Daniel Sturridge on the sidelines.
