Manchester City slide down team form rankings as a new leader takes charge

There are sweeping changes in the team form rankings across Europe’s top five leagues as Manchester City and PSG’s duopoly over the standings thus far comes to an end.

The former fall from first to sixth following a first defeat of the season at Chelsea last time out, conceding for a fifth game in six in the league. The Ligue 1 leaders, meanwhile, saw their perfect start to the season come to an end last weekend and suffered a second successive draw in midweek away to Strasbourg, falling all the way to tenth in the process.

It’s Juventus that are now the new leaders following a sixth consecutive league win over rivals Inter last time out, conceding just twice in that run. The Serie A champions now boast the best record across the major leagues having dropped just two of a possible 45 points this season.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are up to second after a thumping 4-0 win in the derby with Espanyol and Napoli are up to third after a victory of the same scoreline against Frosinone.

Liverpool, having climbed to the top of the Premier League, are in at four following another 4-0 victory, while it’s surprise package Nimes that complete the top five after a fourth win in five.

Elsewhere, Atalanta return to the leaderboard having returned to winning ways at Udinese last time out, while Nice - who kept a sixth consecutive clean sheet last week - and Borussia Dortmund complete the top ten. The latter retained their seventh-point lead in the Bundesliga courtesy of a Revierderby winner from Jadon Sancho at Schalke.
