Chelsea and Liverpool pairings make Premier League team of the week

Chelsea and Liverpool both capitalised on Manchester City dropping points at Southampton to secure wins over Tottenham and Crystal Palace, respectively, and the pair both have two players make the Premier League team of the week.

Nick Pope (Burnley) - 7.68

Burnley held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates on Sunday with Nick Pope playing a key role between the sticks. The Clarets shotstopper frustrated the hosts in north London, making five saves, as Burnley earned a huge point in their bid to beat the drop.

Kieran Trippier (Newcastle) - 7.73

A fellow relegation rival earned a huge result over the weekend as Newcastle secured a hard-fought 1-0 win at Leeds. Kieran Trippier put in a solid shift from right-back, the England international nailing down his place in the team of the week with a WhoScored rating of 7.73, with returns of four clearances, three tackles and three interceptions helping the Magpies to a clean sheet and three massive points at Elland Road.

Mohamed Salisu (Southampton) - 8.23

Mohamed Salisu continues to excel for Southampton having made a regular starting spot his own on the back of Jannik Vestergaard's move to Leicester. The 22-year-old frustrated the Manchester City attack in Saints' 1-1 draw with the league leaders on Saturday, making 14 clearances, seven tackles and four interceptions in a superb display that saw Salisu yield a WhoScored rating of 8.23.

Thiago Silva (Chelsea) - 7.93

Thiago Silva bagged his third league goal of the season in Sunday's 2-0 win over London rivals Tottenham as the experienced Brazilian excelled at the heart of the Blues backline at Stamford Bridge. Silva made one clearance and one interception in the victory, and was solid in his distribution, finding a teammate with 96.1% of his 76 attempted passes to partner Salisu at the heart of the defence with a WhoScored rating of 7.93.

Andrew Robertson (Liverpool) - 8.17

Rounding off the defence is the first of two Liverpool players to make the cut. Andrew Robertson registered assists number seven and eight for the season in the Reds' 3-1 win at Crystal Palace on Sunday, providing for Virgil van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to net in the first half at Selhurst Park. The pair of assists came from three key passes and helped Robertson to a WhoScored rating of 8.17.

Hakim Ziyech (Chelsea) - 9.23

With a rating of 9.23, Chelsea's Hakim Ziyech is the WhoScored Premier League player of the week. Ziyech opened the scoring in Sunday's London derby, finding the top corner with a fine effort that left Hugo Lloris rooted to the spot. The Moroccan hit the back of the net with one of five shots, while additional returns of four tackles, two key passes and two dribbles capped a superb showing from the 28-year-old.

Joao Moutinho (Wolves) - 8.61

It's an all-Wolves central midfield pairing in the Premier League team of the week, with Joao Moutinho making the cut with a WhoScored rating of 8.61. The 35-year-old had a direct hand in both goals in Wolves' 2-1 win at Brentford, Moutinho following up his goal shortly after the restart with the assist for Ruben Neves' winner 12 minutes from time. Those came from respective returns of one shot and two key passes in a man of the match display from Moutinho.

Ruben Neves (Wolves) - 8.51

Wolves' match winner joins his club teammate in the middle of the park as Ruben Neves earned a WhoScored rating of 8.51 at Brentford. The 24-year-old struck with one of two shots in west London and he worked tirelessly off the ball, too, making seven tackles in a fine performance in the capital.

Diogo Jota (Liverpool) - 7.76

Diogo Jota was unable to play a direct hand in a goal in Liverpool's 3-1 win at Crystal Palace, but it wasn't for want of trying as the Reds star managed two key passes and one shot at Selhurst Park. Jota also won the penalty that sealed all three points for Jurgen Klopp's side as he completes the midfield with a WhoScored rating of 7.76.

Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) - 7.77

Bryan Mbeumo's sole key pass in Brentford's 2-1 loss to Wolves on Saturday resulted in the assist for Ivan Toney's goal with 20 minutes to play at the Brentford Community Stadium. The Frenchman was solid in possession, completing three dribbles, and defended from the front well, making three interceptions and one tackle to feature with a WhoScored rating of 7.77.

Ivan Toney (Brentford) - 7.40

Joining Mbeumo on the frontline with a WhoScored rating of 7.40 is Brentford teammate Ivan Toney. Toney scored for the second game running in the Bees' eventual 2-1 loss to Wolves, hitting the back of the net for the sixth time this season with one of three shots. The 25-year-old also won four aerial duels on Saturday afternoon to complete the XI.
