First Leg Recap

Manchester City were hardly troubled by Gladbach in the first leg, that deemed their 'away' clash despite both games taking place at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. Indeed, City could easily have won by more, but a professional performance saw them secure a 2-0 win against their German counterparts.

Bernardo Silva headed City ahead on the half hour mark and the Premier League side doubled their advantage midway through the second half as Gabriel Jesus maintained his superb last-16 record having scored in each of his last five appearances at this stage of the Champions League.

Team News

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has a clean bill of health for tonight's second leg encounter after Nathan Ake recently recovered from injury. Guardiola made a number of changes to his side for the 3-0 win at Fulham at the weekend and is expected to rotate once more.

Gladbach boss Marco Rose is sweating on the fitness of key pair Ramy Bensebaini and Christoph Kramer. Both played the full 90 in the first leg, but have since succumbed to knocks and will be assessed. Oscar Wendt is ready to deputise for the former if Bensebaini is unable to recover in time, while Rose may switch to a 4-2-3-1 after using a 4-3-3 and a midfield or Kramer, Florian Neuhaus and Denis Zakaria in the first leg.

Key Battle: Ilkay Gundogan vs Florian Neuhaus

Champions League team news and prediction: Man City vs Gladbach

Kevin De Bruyne's return to the first team set up has coincided with Ilkay Gundogan's goals drying up with the German's license to get forward rescinded in order to allow his Belgian teammate to support the offensive. Nevertheless, Gundogan is still a goal threat for City from deep when Guardiola allows him to push up and having put in his second worst rated Champions League performance of the campaign in the reverse leg, the 30-year-old will be keen to make amends tonight.

This season may be Florian Neuhaus' first in the Champions League, but he's taken to the competition with ease as evidenced in his solid WhoScored rating of 7.20. The Germany international's work off the ball has been a key reason for his rating, with Neuhaus averaging 3.3 tackles per game, and it's this tenacity that will help Gladbach overturn their first leg deficit tonight.

Score Prediction: Manchester City 3-0 Gladbach
