Team Form Rankings: Chelsea on the rise as PSG remain faultless following Classique win

We’ve made an amendment to our team form rankings this week, to ensure that each club’s most recent matches are given greater importance than those previous.

The timeframe remains the same, with the last six match ratings taken into account, but in simple terms the first match of the six carries less weight than the second and so on, with the latest game in the run having the greatest impact on the overall average.

The resulting top ten for this week is as follows…

10) Arsenal - 6.99

Dropping six places under the same parameters from the week previous, the Gunners could only manage a point away to Crystal Palace, bringing to an end an impressive winning streak.

9) Bayer Leverkusen - 7.00

The highest risers onto the leaderboard by a huge distance, Leverkusen jump from 40th into the top ten following a thumping 6-2 away win at high-flying Werder Bremen.

8) Montpellier - 7.01

La Paillade’s sensational start to the season continued with a 3-0 victory at Toulouse at the weekend, stretching their unbeaten streak to a remarkable ten matches.

7) Juventus - 7.01

While the Serie A champions returned to winning ways on Saturday they did so the hard way having fallen behind to lowly Empoli before a Cristiano Ronaldo brace ultimately extended their lead at the top.

6) RB Leipzig - 7.01

The Bundesliga side may have only managed a point against Schalke at the weekend but recorded a fourth clean sheet in six and have now conceded just twice in that unbeaten run.

5) Atletico Madrid - 7.02

It was another win and another clean sheet for Diego Simeone’s side, who dispatched of Real Sociedad with relative ease at the weekend and have conceded just once in six league games.

4) Chelsea - 7.02

After three draws in four games Chelsea got back on track in emphatic fashion at Burnley with a 4-0 win, taking their goal tally to 14 over their last six league matches.

3) Borussia Dortmund - 7.12

The Bundesliga leaders only managed a draw with Hertha Berlin at the weekend but continued to pose a great attacking threat, with a Jadon Sancho double meaning the club have now scored 22 times over their last six league outings.

2) Manchester City - 7.24

It certainly wasn’t a classic City performance at Wembley but a sixth win in seven will mean that Guardiola isn’t concerned, particularly having kept a sixth consecutive clean sheet in the league.

1) Paris Saint Germain - 7.31

It was perhaps PSG’s toughest test yet at the weekend as they travelled to Marseille for the latest instalment of Le Classique but a match-winning cameo from Kylian Mbappe ensured that Thomas Tuchel’s side remain faultless in Ligue 1.
