Kimmich leads Germany quintet from day five's top performers of Euro 2024

 

After day five of Euro 2024 action, we run through the top rated performers from Wednesday's games. Germany, Scotland, Croatia and Albania are all represented on the list.   

 

10. Toni Kroos (Germany) - 7.41 

 

As is to be expected, Toni Kroos put in another marshaling performance from midfield as Germany booked their last-16 spot with ease. Kroos found a teammate with 94.7% of his 131 passes in the 2-0 win over Hungary and made two tackles on his way to a WhoScored rating of 7.41. 

 

9. Mateo Kovacic (Croatia) - 7.56 

 

Croatia had to settle for a point against Albania on Wednesday afternoon as the pair played out a 2-2 draw. Mateo Kovacic shone both on and off the ball in the stalemate as he made three key passes and returned a 91.8% pass success rate, all the while making five tackles, to return a WhoScored rating of 7.56. 

 

8. Robert Andrich (Germany) - 7.59 

 

Kroos' midfield partner against Hungary, Robert Andrich was excellent off the ball for Germany in the 2-0 win over Hungary as he made four tackles, four clearances and won three aerial duels in a solid showing. 

 

 

7. Scott McTominay (Scotland) - 7.71  

 

Scott McTominay scored his first goal of Euro 2024 as Scotland kept their hopes of progression alive with a 1-1 draw with Switzerland. The 27-year-old struck with one of four shots and made two key passes to land a WhoScored rating of 7.71. 

 

6. Jamal Musiala (Germany) - 7.77  

 

Jamal Musiala scored his second goal of Euro 2024 as Germany eased to a 2-0 win over Hungary in their second Group A game. The 21-year-old struck with one of three shots and made three tackles in another fine performance. 

 

5. Qazim Laci (Albania) - 7.92 

 

Back to Albania's 2-2 draw with Croatia, and it was Qazim Laci who put the Red and Blacks ahead on Wednesday afternoon. Laci netted with his only effort on goal, and he worked hard off the ball, too, as he made three clearances, two tackles and one interception. 

 

4. Ilkay Gundogan (Germany) - 7.94 

 

Germany's captain was directly involved in both foals against Hungary on Wednesday evening as he provided the assist for Musiala's opener and then got on the scoresheet himself in the second half. Those came from respective returns of two key passes and two shots as Ilkay Gundogan landed a WhoScored rating of 7.94.

3. Thomas Strakosha (Albania) - 8.18 

 

Thomas Strakosha was a solid last line of defence in Albania's 2-2 draw with Croatia. While he shipped twice, Strakosha was still on hand to make eight saves and claim two high balls to return a WhoScored rating of 8.18. 

 

2. Andrej Kramaric (Croatia) - 8.21 

 

The star performer from Croatia's 2-2 draw with Albania, Andrej Kramaric scored the goal that drew his side level, getting the better of Strakosha with his only shot on goal. The 33-year-old was a menace for the Albania backline as he completed four dribbles and made three key passes.

 

1. Joshua Kimmich (Germany) - 8.32

 

With a WhoScored rating of 8.32, Joshua Kimmich is the player of the day from the first set of second round games. Kimmich misplaced just two of his 73 attempted passes and he was unfortunate not to add an assist having created four chances. Two tackles and two interceptions marked another solid showing from the German.
