Transfer roundup: January 4th - Chelsea ponder Lozano while Solanke makes move

It’s only the fourth day of the January transfer window but there has already been another big money move in the Premier League, while Chelsea’s search for attacking reinforcements continues.

Bournemouth seal deal for Dominic Solanke

Having been close to signing for Crystal Palace at the start of the month on loan, Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke has made a permanent switch to Bournemouth within a matter of days, the club has confirmed.

The Cherries have forked out £19m for the youngster, who has been out injured for much of the season and is yet to make a single appearance this season.

The transfer fee certainly represents a risk as a result but the England youth international has agreed a long-term contract on the south coast with the intention of gaining regular first team football.

Chelsea still in the market for wide options despite Pulisic signing

The Guardian report that Chelsea are considering a £36m swoop for PSV winger Hirving Lozano just days after sealing a move for Christian Pulisic.

The American will not arrive until the summer, however, and with youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi heavily linked with a move to Bayern, the Blues may yet make a bid for the Mexican this month.

Lozano has had a direct hand in 17 league goals for the Dutch champions this season (11 goals, six assists), so whether the fee reported will be enough to force PSV hand into selling the 23-year-old remains to be seen.

Tottenham extend Toby Alderweireld contract

As expected, Tottenham have exercised their option to extend Toby Alderweireld’s deal at the club until the summer of 2020, with the Belgian long linked with a move away from the North London club.

The news, however, has not been met with any real optimism from Spurs fans given a clause in the Belgian’s contract that will allow him to live for just £25m provided a transfer is completed at least 14 days before the end of the summer window.

Despite being heavily linked with a move away ahead of the season, the 29-year-old has started 19 of 21 Premier League and has completed more accurate long balls (147) than any other outfield player thus far.

Tottenham midfielder set for move to Chinese Super League

Mousa Dembele is reportedly closing in on a move to Chinese Super League outfit Beijing Guoan, according to Sky Sports News.

The Belgian is widely expected to leave the capital city club this month having found playing time and form hard to come by this season, with his current contract expiring in the summer.

Spurs are willing to cash in on the 31-year-old as a result, who has missed through injury in recent months and not featured for the club since the start of November.

Any such move would bring an end to a six-and-a-half year spell with Tottenham, in which time the midfielder had a direct hand in just 18 league goals.
