Man Utd News: Why Turkey transfer window offers salvation for Casemiro and 9 others

The Premier League transfer window closed last month, leaving a number of out-of-favour stars in limbo for their respective sides. However, there is a way out for those surplus to requirements with their teams, with the Super Lig window open until next week.

Turkey's top tier has welcomed a number of recognisable players this summer, including Gabriel Sara, Youssef En-Nesyri, Ciro Immobile and, most recently, Victor Osimhen. They might yet be joined by a handful more, with the following players potentially benefitting from a move to the Super Lig.

Casemiro - Manchester United

Casemiro's final Manchester United appearance may prove to be one that he'd quickly want to forget about. The Brazilian shone in his debut season at Old Trafford but has looked well past-in in the months since. Indeed, a WhoScored rating of 5.11 against Liverpool at the weekend marked his lowest in a Premier League match, and such was the display that he was hauled off at half time. A move to Galatasaray has been mooted and while the 32-year-old has played down links with a switch to the Istanbul powerhouse, with Manuel Ugarte joining United; Casemiro would benefit from the chance to get out while he still can.

Sergio Reguilon - Tottenham

Tottenham did well to clear the decks this summer. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tanguy Ndombele, Emerson Royal and Giovani Lo Celso have also departed for pastures new, though one remains on the books who has no future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Sergio Reguilon spent last season on loan at Manchester United and Brentford, and is not wanted in north London. Fenerbahce, where he'd reunite with Jose Mourinho, has emerged as a potential destination for Reguilon, who'd be viewed as a replacement for Ferdi Kadioglu following his move to Brighton.

Ben Chilwell - Chelsea

Moving from north to west London, another left-back surplus to requirements in the capital is Chelsea's Ben Chilwell. No longer training with the first team, Chilwell had hoped to land a move away from the Blues, but failed to secure a exit before last week's deadline. The division's Big Three - Galatasaray, Fenerbache and Besiktas - have each been linked with the England international, who'll look to secure regular first team game time in order to force his way back into Three Lions reckoning.

Darwin Nunez - Liverpool

Federico Chiesa's move to Liverpool last month means Arne Slot has six attackers to work with in his favoured 4-2-3-1 setup, with two forwards able to play in each role across the frontline. With Diogo Jota seemingly first choice as the focal point for the Reds, big-money arrival Darwin Nunez may well consider his options as he looks to garner regular game time. The Uruguayan, who shone at the Copa America this summer, was previously linked with a move to Fenerbahce and a short-term move could prove beneficial for the former Benfica man.

Kieran Trippier - Newcastle

Having recently confirmed his international retirement, Kieran Trippier has also lost his spot in the Newcastle starting XI to compatriot Tino Livramento. The 33-year-old was linked with a move to Everton earlier in the summer, though a transfer failed to materialise, and he's unlikely to reclaim his starting spot in the Newcastle side anytime soon. With that in mind, a switch to the Super Lig would benefit a player entering the twilight years of his career. Having previously played in Spain, Trippier is prepared to chance his luck across Europe, with the right-back evidently willing to leave England for the sake of his career.

Matheus Nunes - Manchester City

The arrival of Savinho and return of Ilkay Gundogan is set to limit Matheus Nunes' gametime at Manchester City this season. Nunes started just seven league games for the Cityzens last season, while all three outings have come from the bench in 2024/25. The Portugal international was linked with a move to Atletico Madrid over the summer, so City seem willing to listen to offers for the former Wolves man.

Antony - Manchester United

Another Manchester United man who could yet depart Old Trafford this summer. Antony has proven to be an expensive flop following his arrival from Ajax and his gametime may well drop further again this term, even if the Brazilian was one Erik ten Hag pushed to sign from the Dutch side. The emergence of Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho suggests Antony has dropped further down the pecking order in Manchester, leading to speculation of a Super Lig switch, with Fenerbahce a rumoured destination.

Jakub Kiwior - Arsenal

Arsenal added Riccardo Calafiori to the ranks over the summer to swell their defensive ranks. Coupled with Jurrien Timber's return to fitness and Mikel Arteta is well stocked for versatile defenders at the Emirates. With both set to play key roles at the back for the Gunners, this is likely to impact Jakub Kiwior's minutes in north London. The Poland international ended the campaign as first choice left-back in the capital, but is yet to play a single minute for Arsenal this season. The Premier League title hopefuls reportedly turned down a host of offers for Kiwior over the summer and while Arteta needs strength in depth, the 24-year-old is unlikely to force his way back into the reckoning in the capital anytime soon.

Mykhailo Mudryk - Chelsea

Following his arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk, Mykhailo Mudryk has shown glimpses of his talent at Chelsea but has struggled for consistency at Stamford Bridge. The signings of Portuguse pair Pedro Neto and Joao Felix last month suggests Mudryk doesn't quite have the trust of Enzo Maresca to play down the left flank. The 23-year-old would benefit from a spell away from the west London spotlight and while the Super Lig can prove an unforgiving division, the youngster could well thrive with a change of surroundings.

Tariq Lamptey - Brighton

Brighton were prepared to cash in on Tariq Lamptey last week and while a move away from the south coast didn't come to fruition, the Seagulls still have a chance to sell the 23-year-old. Lamptey has just a year left to run on his current contract at the AMEX and with the right-back unlikely to force himself into first-team reckoning under newly-appointed Fabian Hurzeler, there is a chance for Brighton to bring in a fee for the defender rather than lose him on a free next year.
