Young Chelsea sensation breaks into top 10 Premier League ratings

 

It was a successful weekend for Chelsea as they finally secured their first win under Frank Lampard with a battling 3-2 win at Norwich. A Tammy Abraham brace wrapped up the points for the Blues, while Mason Mount bagged his second goal in as many Premier League outings at Carrow Road. 

 

The 20-year-old earned a WhoScored rating of 8.16 in the victory with his wonderfully taken goal enough to ensure he broke into the top 10 Premier League player rating standings. Indeed, his average of 7.73 is the 10th best is England’s top tier this term as Mount maximises the chance handed to him by Lampard to consolidate a regular starting spot for the west London side.

Mount isn’t the only Chelsea player to feature in the top 10 rankings, with left-back Emerson rising 24 places to fifth following his man of the match showing at Norwich. The Italian made more tackles (7) than any other player in the Premier League in gameweek three and it means his average rating of 7.87 is the best of all Chelsea stars and enough to make the top five. 

 

Another to shine in the entertaining top-flight encounter at Carrow Road was Teemu Pukki, who bagged his fifth goal and registered his first assist of the campaign in the loss to the Blues. One goal and one assist means Pukki has had a direct hand in more goals (6) than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season and it’s translated to a WhoScored rating of 8.27 in the Premier League. 

 

That rating is second only to Raheem Sterling (8.29) in the Premier League, with the Manchester City sensation bagging his fifth league goal of the campaign at Bournemouth on Sunday as the England international maintained his fine goalscoring record against the Cherries. Sterling isn't the only City star in the top 10, with Kevin De Bruyne (8.09) also featurning. Ashley Barnes rounds up the top three, with the Burnley striker rising one place having scored his fourth goal from three top-flight outings in their 1-1 draw against Wolves, with his rating this season a solid 8.12.

Three Liverpool players also make up the top 10, with Joel Matip rising 39 spots to seventh and Mohamed Salah’s rating up to 7.74, that level with Roberto Firmino in eighth. However, the biggest riser in the top 10 is Sebastien Haller, who surged 170 spots into sixth. The Frenchman’s man of the match showing at Watford means his average WhoScored rating this season is now 7.81.
